I was checking out AmericanBaby.com and found a cute link that looks at Mom and Baby's horoscopes. I am not crazy into Astrology, but I find it interesting and think there may be some truth in the "signs". I think there is some truth in horoscopes (at least regarding your "sign" and personality) that has to do with the whole nature vs nurture argument, although in this case I think nature is not only related to your genes, but also to the physical environment during the time which you were born and subsequently during the time when you accomplished major milestones - physical environment meaning the seasons, planetary rotation, and moon phases. Ok, so that may be a little too metaphysical.....but I think the horoscopes are pretty accurate (and based on the fact that my mom, uncle, and sister are all Aquarius' - I think the baby's horoscope is definitely true!).
Joel is not that into Astrology but a while back, we were listening to a Numerologist on the radio and started playing around with our birthdays to find out our Numerological descriptions. Joel is a 1 and I am a 7. I hadn't thought about this in a long time, but the other night I was laying in bed thinking about my due date (1/23/2009) and realized that if the baby was born on the due date (ok, not likely, but stay with me) - baby would be an "8" - how interesting, 1(Joel) + 7(Monica) = 8(Baby). This really piqued my curiosity......so since every date is reduced to a number from 1 to 9, the probability of us having a due date that worked out to an "8" is 10%.....not really a high probability, but certainly not a "rare" case either. I thought it was really interesting though :-)
Here are some descriptions for our numerological representations (there are probably a million out there - I used the first that were concise and not too mystical):
Joel: Our symbol for The Number One, 1, is a pillar. A phallic shape. The one is a masculine energy that strikes out on its own and pioneers what is new, original, and seething with energy. This One is the irreducible fact of consciousness, the eternal I AM.
Monica: The Number Seven questions and seeks answers to the grand riddle of life. It is a number of magical, mystical maturity. Its character, 7, may be likened to an old man bent over with age or perhaps, carrying a staff or lantern that casts its light into the darkness surrounding it. It is the number of introspection, planning, and inner searching. Through the control, insight and planning that emerges with the Seven we realize that we reap what we sow.
Baby Benelyn (by due date):The Number Eight becomes a carrier of dynamic power and the success of the seeds planted all the way back with the One. Its character, 8, reveals a perfect balance between the world of ideas and the world of action. It is closed off indicating the power that will bring ideas into fruition.
